John Michael Furcho, age 81, passed away peacefully at home on January 4, 2026, surrounded by his family. Furch, to all who knew him, was born on July 20, 1944 to Michael and Frances (Gowaty) Furcho. Furch lived a life of service to country, community and family.
As a veteran of the U.S. Navy, Furch served his country with honor and integrity. Afterwards, he continued to serve the needs of veterans and their families in the community dedicating over 50 years to veterans' causes and organizations. Furch always found ways to help others and support the community he loved.
Furch was a dedicated husband of 53 years to his wife, Jane and a devoted father to his daughters, Sally and Johnna. The greatest joy of his life was his beloved granddaughter Hayden. He was her number one fan. Also survived by sister Veronica (Joe) Laporta.
He loved hunting in Bard Hollow, cheering on the Shade Lady Panthers and never missed a Steelers game.
Furch's legacy of service and love of family will continue to inspire all who knew him.
Friends will be received Saturday from 11 a.m. until time of Funeral Mass at noon at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church (Sacred Heart), Father Aron Maghsoudi, Celebrant. Military Honors by Central City VFW Post.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Windber Hospice, have a cold beer and watch a steelers game.
